Each year, the Quality of Life Council honors those individuals who work to find solutions to the region's difficult issues that jointly improve the economy, preserve natural resources, and strengthen community. Awards are given in three categories: Lifetime Achievement, Quality of Life, and the youth award called the "Promise of the Future" . In addition , from time to time a special recognition award is presented for particularly outstanding contributions to improving our quality of life.
