To the Members of the Quality of
Life Council and the Community of Northwest Indiana:
Northwest Indiana faces many challenges
and opportunities. The need to work together to solve problems and to capitalize
on our strengths has never been greater nor more important. Only through the
collective efforts of everyone can we create a sustainable future for our
region in which our economy, our environment, and all our residents, irrespective
of their race and ethnicity, benefit.
The Quality of Life Council serves
to discuss issues, to identify solutions, and to urge the region and its creative
leaders and residents to envision and then create a compelling and highly
desirable future. During the short history of the Quality of Life Council,
we have focused on comprehensive land use planning, substance abuse, housing
issues, and more recently, quality of life indicators. Our Quality of Life
Council Web page will keep us informed about these and other important activities.
It will also lift up for our inspiration those among us who have received
Quality of Life awards because of their exceptional contributions to the region.
Without the consent of the governed,
no democracy can succeed. And without the active engagement of those citizens,
who give above and beyond what is expected from them, we will be unable to
advance the interests of this region.
We hope that you will find this
information helpful and useful. Thank you.
